Furnace Repair Calgary
Published On: 20 August 2020Categories: Latest News

In just a month or two (please not any sooner!), we’ll all be turning our thermostats from ‘cool’ to ‘heat.’ But before we do, there’s a few important things to get done to ensure your furnace is in great shape to take care of your family all autumn and winter.

Check the Thermostat.

One of the most common causes of furnace failure isn’t a problem with the furnace at all! Thermostats can malfunction, and when they do, your furnace won’t get the message to heat up your house. As we move from August into September, take a minute to make sure your thermostat is:

  1. On
  2. Set to heating
  3. Is set to the right temperature.

If those three things look alright, turn the temperature up in your house for a few seconds just to make sure you hear the furnace kick in. About a quarter of Calgary furnace failure calls are linked to a thermostat that is off or simply misset, so don’t skip this step!

Change Your Furnace Filter.

So many furnaces fail because a dirty filter is left in too long. Furnaces are forced to work overtime when the filter is clogged, and that causes them to overheat and wear out. The easiest and cheapest way for Calgary homeowners to safeguard the lifespan of their furnace is to simply change the furnace filter on time. If your household has a large, shedding dog or several long-haired, shedding cats or teenagers, you may even want to change the filter more frequently.

Schedule an Inspection with a Calgary Furnace Technician.

For most modern furnaces, an annual inspection is a necessary part of ensuring your warranty is honoured. But beyond protecting your investment, annual furnace inspections give you and your family peace of mind. We take a look at everything from your pilot light to your furnace blower to double-checking everything is in great shape and working optimally. This careful, professional furnace inspection from our Calgary furnace technicians helps to catch any little problems before they become big problems — greatly reducing your risk of a catastrophic furnace failure in the middle of January.

For life in Alberta, furnaces simply aren’t optional. That’s why it’s so important to have your furnace expertly inspected for any potential problems before winter begins. Schedule it early in the season, so you and your family can go into winter cozy and confident.
